WilleyWorld Community Productions schedules auditions for Summer Show, My Favorite Year
WilleyWorld Community Productions has set auditions for the comedy My Favorite Year, it’s seventh annual Summer Show to kick off Riverfest.
Walt Willey, co-founder and artistic director of WilleyWorld Community Productions, and advisor Mary Morgan will conduct auditions Saturday, May 16, from 12p.m. to 4p.m. and Sunday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 4p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 717 Chambers Street, in Ottawa, Illinois. Auditions will be held in the church’s basement.
Casting for 15 men and 10 women. No previous theatrical experience is required. Those interested will be asked to do readings from the script, alone and in combination with others. Those who attend Saturday may be asked to return on Sunday for additional reading.
“We’re looking for men and women of all adult ages and all roles are currently open,” said Willey. “We are thrilled to be doing this fantastic comedy for the first time in this area.”
“This show is well-known from the movie of the same name, starring Peter O’Toole” Morgan noted. “And the play is incredibly charming and even funnier!”
“My Favorite Year is based on true events,” Willey added. “Mel Brooks was a junior writer on Sid Caesar’s show. Errol Flynn was the guest star one week and Brooks was put in charge of keeping him sober – and the adventure began.”
“As we grew and evolved, we became a sort of regional community theatre and we are very excited to meet actors from all over Starved Rock Country,” said Willey. “We are also looking for people interested in working backstage as well,” Morgan noted.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in late May. Production venue and dates will be announced shortly, but performance dates will certainly include July 23-26.
