WilleyWorld 'Cuckoo's Nest' auditions next week
WilleyWorld Community Productions has scheduled auditions for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest," the first show of the newly-expanded 2015 season.
The performance is planned for March or early April in the performance space at the 807 Building above Jeremiah Joe Coffee, 807 La Salle St., Ottawa.
Walt Willey, co-founder and artistic director of WilleyWorld Community Productions, and adviser Mary Morgan, is scheduled to conduct auditions 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Ottawa Dance Academy, 725 Fulton St.
Casting will be for 12 men and four women. No previous theatrical experience is required. Those interested will be asked to do readings from the script, alone and in combination with others.
“We’re looking for men and women of all adult ages and all roles are currently open,” Willey said. “We are especially looking for African-American and Native-American actors. We are so thrilled to be expanding our season this year, beginning with this iconic play.”
“This show is well-known from its movie adaptation,” Morgan added. “But the play, based on the Ken Kesey novel, is incredibly riveting and charming.”
“As we grow and evolve, we find ourselves quickly becoming a sort of regional community theater and we are very excited to see many new faces from Starved Rock Country’s theater community,” Willey said.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in mid-January, with production dates to be announced shortly.
